The scales are still tilting left and right between those two. either of those outcomes would be 100% worth it, to me. But the thought of humanity either dominating the virus, or simply killing it dead. The idea of a world where humans have to cower in holes while the virus rampages unstopped wrankles me endlessly.

For me, it's not just about how they operate or what their motifs and ideals are it's about what their idea of a final victory looks like. I can identify with both factions' ideals and points of view. And they seek to win on those terms, even if some might call it naive or archaic. They fight with human weapons, and human ingenuity. No messing around with the virus, no compromise or co-existence, no risking future infection or allowing the virus to gain any sort of victory. NJ's idea of a win is a win that is completely on humanity's terms. Their rebellion against that idea isn't just for the sake of restoring "old Earth", because I think they realize it'll never, ever be the same. They realize the true danger of the virus and the mutants - that they seek to supplant humanity as the dominant force on the planet. the reason I went towards them first was obviously their policy of total war. When you get down to it, their idea of a "win" is really the biggest win of all, because it plays strictly to humanity's strengths as a fiercely adaptive and intelligent race that can conquer anything.Īs for New Jericho.
#Phoenix point best faction to ally series#
For the latter, I already had a soft spot for the Brotherhood of Nod in the "Command & Conquer" series (the real one, not the 'Red Alert' spinoff), so the similarities alone are compelling but DoA also has a very agreeable ideology when it comes to them recognizing humanity's flaws, and striving to adapt to the virus and still come out on top while retaining individual humanity. DoA can still eat lead and die, though.įor me, I'm waffling between New Jericho and the Disciples of Anu. It unfortunately lacks the immersion you get from XCOM and all the story into which you’re subjected. I gained a bit of respect for Synedrion and lost some for NJ. Yeah, it does, because Phoenix Point is cool. I'd go with NJ for starters, but tried convincing them to cut some of the bullshit they had been doing along the way.ĮDIT: It's surprising to see how my outlook on the factions changed with time due to the new information we were given.

Is it worth being human? They can also simply be dogmatic murdercultists. When you face anunites, you must answer a simple question. Their goal is a great undertaking, it's turning humanity into something greater than it ever was and would ever be. Meanwhile, multiple factions of humans will pursue their own objectives as they compete with players for limited resources in the apocalyptic world. They are Kurtzes, Raskolnikovs and Himmlers whose power and goals are above pitiful morality of basic, hypocritical and forever wretched humanity. One very important thing about the Disciples of Anu is they understand that clearing out all human flaws means not being human anymore. The semi-independence of individual havens can make working towards a common goal difficult, especially if someone has to take a hit for the team.

Example: the next appointed leader just aborts the things his precedessor was working on even if he should logically complete them just because of his political promises (Vietnam War, anyone?). Decentralised/delayed/democratic decision making can lead to disaster in tight situations. Synedrion has great ideals and a resolute view on the virus threat, but the times they live in are not a time for building perfect societies. I also get the feeling they might be stuck in the past and military thinking too much, especially when it comes to hierarchy and the well-being of their lads and lasses. However, they seem to be dishonest towards their own people (#PetyayevaWasAnInsideJob) and use company-only currency, which is just awful for many reasons. New Jericho actively opposes the PV every time it has an opportunity, wants to restore the old world and is ready to make necessary sacrifices without mulling over it. The thing that I really like about the setting is that everyone is trying to do the good thing, but has his flaws.
